Bug Description

When trying to launch/Boot computer; device freezes at login screen.

Tried running a GRUB repair as well as file system check; nothing came back.

Only way to boot into system is by running a 4.10 kernel version and even then, it'll lag/freeze for about 3-5seconds before you can enter information into the Login page.

Tried doing a $ apt purge intel-microcode per another suggestion through launchpad (Bug # 1760377)

Version of ubuntu: 16.04.3 LTS
Expected to Happen: boot normally into login page
Actually Happened: device will freeze at either the Ubuntu Logo or Freeze/Crash at Login splash screen.
