i have had issues since i was getting updates months ago n pc crashed in the middle missing some mbs

You /etc/apt/sources.list file is missing entries for the main section of the Ubuntu archive. You'll need to sort this out yourself.
Here are the specific issues:

deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid restricted multiverse

^- that line is missing main and universe

deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid-security restricted universe multiverse
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ vivid-updates restricted universe multiverse
