Bug Description

Bug: /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log and /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt.log upgrade was aborted

The terminal asked me to report this bug when the upgrade failed.

But There was another problem, possibly related to my text turning to boxes:
Dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of libudev1:i386:
Libudev1:i386 depends on libc6 (>= 2.17); however:
Version of lib6:i386 on system is 2.15-0ubuntu20.1

Once I updated again with apt-get update and then ran apt-get upgrade it worked

So this isn't precisely a bug. You needed to run "apt-get update' and "apt-get upgrade" in order to get the most recent version of libc6. The version of libudevl that is used in Raring requires libc6 2.17.

Changed in ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu):

I was trying to upgrade from 12.10 to 13.04 because my desktop text has
turned to small boxes. The upgrade still hasn't finished but it fixed the
text issue (for now).
It may not be a bug, the terminal told me to post it as a bug though so I
did. I suspect the reason that it reported as a bug was that there was a
problem related to the libudev dependencies before I tried to upgrade.
I'm not sure about this though

Ack... Checked the dependancies. Quantal ships with 2.15-0ubuntu0, Raring ships with 2.17-0ubuntu5. libudev1 doesn't show up in the repos until Raring, thus naturally libc6 was out of date because libudev1 was designed for the version of libc6 that ships with Raring. I've looked back over the other dependancies, and they all seem to mesh correctly. Even though it's not technically speaking a bug, it's something that could be improved on, and something that we are now aware of. If you have any further questions, shoot me an email @ <email address hidden>.
