Please depend on notification-daemon

ubuntu-desktop depends only on notify-osd. Please add an alternative dependency on virtual package notification-daemon

Just a note: the same mentioned above happens also in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. It would be nice for power users/administrators to have a possibility to replace notify-osd with any other notification daemon.
