Bug Description
I can't help thinking that I probably shouldn't be posting a bug that would
involve changing hundreds of packages, but my home dir is a mess, so...
I'd like to propose that a good first step would be to rename ~/.gnome2 to
~/.config, link that back to ~/.gnome2, and then encourage everyone to move to
~/.config (or whatever is in $XDG_CONFIG_HOME if anyone ever uses that) at their
own speed.

This specification doesn't sound very sane to me, and would involve a huge
amount of work for a very marginal benefit
