Bug Description

this is a duplicate report... (or i've filed it before but possibly mixed with other issues that don't apply on this AMD gpu)

Ubuntu-MATE impish daily live QA-test on
- dell [optiplex] 780 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350)

Same issue also occurs on prior tests on boxes
- hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290)
- hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600)
but those boxes had wallpaper/image get lost on hitting APPLY to save settings which is issue that doesn't occur on this AMD/ATI video card; reports for hp's can be found at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-mate-meta/+bug/1934752

** Background

Monitors are landscape + portrait-left, so live boots with one display readable & other somewhat problematic to read.. Worse on this box the monitors are left-right swapped.

First thing is load Display settings so I can set Monitor Preferences to match setup.. Alas I make a few mistakes & now after a number of tries; I cannot tell which is the real monitor and which isn't

** Expectation

The Monitor Preferences shows two displays; 1 green & 1 red representing each display..
(no trails, but definitely no choice multiple red/green desktops(

** Actual results

Currently I have 3 red displays on the box that are complete; plus 20+ partial-red trails from prior movements. I also have 2+ complete green displays & 1 partial green display and maybe 5 partial green trails from movements.

Because of the portrait tilt (portrait-left in MATE & Lubuntu, but it's portrait-RIGHT in Ubuntu which I QA-tested yesterday) I took a number of goes to get it right, each time the screens go black & redraw where I accept or restore settings... I lost track of which GREEN & RED was real during my various attempts.. it's made me a little whoozy which isn't good, but the red/green trails & multiple images do NOT make it easy.

This is the 3rd box today I've experienced this today; 2x nvidia & this amd thingy. It's a larger problem on this box because of the portrait tilt (that's not always portrait-left as is dependent on desktop being used & my testing multiple desktops)
