Obviously this was never tested before release. Good QC would require installing every package shown on SB. Obviously not done.

Needed actions. Remove Etcher from the Software Boutique. Update the information in the packages so they will install.

(P.S.) Will not use 20.04 since the audio on YouTube is so distorted and noisy that it is unusable. That is why I am still using 18.04. What went wrong with 20.04???

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

Ubuntu MATE does not use launchpad for tracking bugs, issues should be reported at https://github.com/ubuntu-mate/ubuntu-mate-welcome-legacy/issues

The Ubuntu-MATE discourse site can also be used for support purposes, and filing bugs if you wish.

I've changed the status to "incomplete" as it looks like a support issue to me, however if you believe I'm in error, please leave a comment explaining why and the status can be returned to "New".

Who is responsible for bugs/errors/mistakes in the code you bundle for a distro? Bugs can be in the included data as well as the code. Does anyone take responsibility?

Is the Software Boutique part of Ubuntu 20.04 or part of Ubuntu MATE 20.04.

Response is standard trying to find reason NOT to do anything. Not helpful.

You filed the bug as related to `ubiquity` or the Ubuntu installer that installed your system 2021-04-17 (109 days ago). That is the responsibility of Ubuntu Desktop or Canonical.

Ubuntu-MATE however created and maintains the Software Boutique. I asked on IRC for an appropriate place and was given https://github.com/ubuntu-mate/software-boutique which is where Ubuntu-MATE track issues with their software. I suspect this is the v2 of their software that isn't available yet for released products. There are no issues being tracked there so I provided the link https://github.com/ubuntu-mate/ubuntu-mate-welcome-legacy/issues (which was the only link until semi-recently or for the 20.04 release (you'll note issues reported there from this & last year)).

Ubuntu-MATE does not use launchpad for their own software, it's used by Ubuntu software (and some other flavors). Software Boutique however is Ubuntu-MATE software.

If you don't wish to use the Ubuntu-MATE bug tracker, I also suggested you use the Ubuntu-MATE discourse site (see prior comment for link)

From what you pasted, your issue appears to be not with Ubuntu software but 3rd party sources which is why I suggested support. You mention `balena-etcher-electron` along with many other packages (and dependencies) which are not Ubuntu supported as they are 3rd party. Issues with those packages are tracked on the bug trackers chosen by their 3rd party creators
