Bug Description

I feel the default keyboard colour scheme is slowing me down.

It's made up of grey and white. This does not provide adequate visual contrast to be able to type as quickly as I can on other devices. I feel a slight mental pause as I have to expend slightly more effort to distinguish the similarly coloured elements in the keyboard.

The problem I think is the white buttons on light-grey background. When typing, you're aiming for the whole button and not just the letter. So if the button is feint and hard to see, it feels like it takes more effort.

I think the main thing slowing typing down is not the visual design but lack of predictive input in terms of adjusting the touch area sizes around the keys based on what the user is typing. For comparison, Android 5 doesn't have the buttons at all, just characters and background colour - and typing is still fast.

I disagree. On-screen keyboards with no or little delineation between the keys are slower for me. I'm probably not the only one... It's difficult to quantify.
