Bug Description

Installed Wily from todays daily (4.2.0-16.19). After booting, I am unable to use the wireless device. The wifi is a broadcom BCM4360 based device on a late 2013 Macbook Air.

Wily wants to load b43 and dmesg only shows this:

b43-phy0: Broadcom 4360 WLAN found (core revision 42)
Broadcom 43xx driver loaded [ Features: PNL ]

Netman does not list the wifi device at all.

lspci says:

03:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter (rev 03)
kernel driver in use: bcma-pci-bridge

If I use ubuntu-drivers, it also does not list the broadcom device.

I had to manually install bcmwl-kernel-source from Restricted via apt.
Once dkms had worked it's magic, I was able to use the wifi device on my macbook under Wily.

So expected behaviour:

running ubuntu-drivers will show/install the necessary proprietary bits for the BMC43xx device.

Observed behaviour:

ubuntu-drivers does not list the BCM43xx device at all.

I got it working by installing the Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driver source with:

$ sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source

@Jeff: this looks like a duplicate of LP: #1500591 (which I fixed in 16.04)

This is the modalias on your system:

pci:v000014E4d000043A0sv0000106Bsd00000117bc02sc80i00

and this is what the driver package includes:
pci:v000014E4d000043a0sv*sd*bc02sc80i*

It is an uppercase vs lowercase issue.
