Attached a simple patch fixing this bug in the default language by replacing XSane with Simple Scan.

Thanks for your patch, Robert. It looks great so I have applied it to the Natty dev branch, rev 588.
I see that this is an issue in the Maverick release, do you know if this is a problem in Lucid? My Lucid install contains both XSane and Simple Scan, so I can't confirm if XSane is available by default in Lucid.

I have a default install of Lucid in a VM and can confirm that it contains only simple-scan and not xsane.

@Connor Imes : probably, you have xsane because you have doing an advace of version (9.10 -> 10.04). By default lucid contain only simplescan
