Bug Description

The Documentation at the "Ubuntu Desktop Guide/Install & remove software/Add a PPA" gives non-existent instructions:

The guide for PPA addition says

1. On the PPA's overview page, look for the heading ...... (not the point)
2. Click the Ubuntu Software icon ..... (not the point)
3. When Ubuntu Software launches, click Software & Updates [DOES NOT EXIST]
4. Switch to the Other Software tab. ['OTHER SOFTWARES' TAB DOES NOT EXIST]

Same is the issue for Adding Software Repositories, and others on the page.

This is also available online at https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/addremove-ppa.html

Please feel free to contact me for further info.
I'd like it if given a chance to help edit the documentation.

Thank You.

Thanks for your report!

"Software & Updates" is an item in the "Ubuntu Software" menu; please see the attached screenshot. The problem with the instruction is that it does not mention that.

Thanks also for your offer to help with the edit! While I'll likely handle this particular issue, we do look for people who help maintain the desktop guide. I mentioned it briefly in this message to the ubuntu-doc mailing list:

Please let us know if you are interested in joining the team.

I've just upgraded to 19.10 and the Ubuntu Software menu no longer contains that item. The instructions as given are now impossible.

Should have mentioned in the above - I found this because the upgrade process mentioned that several repositories were disabled during the upgrade and that this could be changed in Ubuntu Software. It was necessary for me to manually edit the contents of /etc/apt/sources.list.d instead. Maybe there is a separate bug to be filed on Ubuntu Software as well.
