Bug Description

in the text about moving to a dual boot system, the introductory text explains that you have to select "manual" repartitioning, then create a swap space of at least 500meg.. etc, etc.

However this isn't correct: the livecd installer contains a new guided repartitioning tool which is simple to use and works fine. The guide should therefore be updated to explain how to use this tool.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at [WWW] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in ubuntu-docs.

When installing Ubuntu 9.10, do not choose automatic, as it gives only a few megs of space for the OPSYS. Choose instead the MANUAL op, as it allows you to choose the size of the space for UBUNTU opsys. I now have to find a partitioner / resizer so I can fix the small space UBUNTU gave itself, causing the UPDATER to say it hasn't enough space left on it's partition!

@bob: Functionality of the installation tool itself is not part of this bug. This bug specifically addresses the installation documentation. Please file your issue with the Ubuntu Installer. Thanks for your feedback!!

sorry... but why always dual boot system.
I personaly think that is not good to run to Operating System on one machine.
I prevere to have for every Operating System one calculator :)

@willySadran: This bug specifically addresses documentation regarding partitioning for a dual boot system. There are other options for running other OS's along with Ubuntu including using VirtualBox. However, that isn't what this particular documentation bug is about. Thanks for your feedback.

Augustina, is this something you still plan to work on?

it is a need for clearer english and straight to the point. The current directions are confusing to new users.
EG - "to share this drive with an existing OS, and split into 2, use this option"
"to use an existing unused drive partition, use this option"

Etc.
But NO, no-one has done it yet, and I have since loaded on 7.10 UBUNTU by deleting the other partitions with ACRONIS Rescue Disk.It is much simpler to use, and the options of ACRONIS are not onboard UBUNTU OS setup discs.

epic93: Thanks for picking up on the bug, it seems like this one hasn't
been worked on, I'll get in touch with Augustina and see what she says
since she was the one working on this bug, but until then you can get
started :)
