2017-08-27 12:01:21 David Llewellyn-Jones description On the page "Ubuntu Desktop Guide » Hardware » Bluetooth » Connect your computer to a Bluetooth device" for 16.04.3 LTS, the first step states: 1. Click the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar and select `Set Up New Device`. I expect this menu item to be available, bug in fact there is no such menu item in 16.04. The available items are "Bluetooth On/Off", "Visible On/Off", "<List of paired devices>", "Bluetooth settings...". What I would expect to happen is for the help steps to say something along the following lines (to replace steps 1 and 2): 1. Click the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar and select `Bluetooth settings...`. 2. Make the other Bluetooth device discoverable or visible and place it within 10 meters (about 33 feet) of your computer. 2½. Click on the `+` icon in the bottom left hand corner of the Bluetooth settings window. Your computer will begin searching for devices. The instructions can then carry on as normal. It may also be worth pointing out on this help page that if the device is already paired, it won't show up again. The user should remove the existing pairing if there's a problem (which can happen, for example, if the user removes the pairing on the phone, but leaves the pairing at the computer end). 'apt-cache policy ubuntu-docs' Returns the following. ``` ubuntu-docs: Installed: 16.04.4 Candidate: 16.04.4 Version table: *** 16.04.4 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 16.04.3 500 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main i386 Packages ``` On the page "Ubuntu Desktop Guide » Hardware » Bluetooth » Connect your computer to a Bluetooth device" for 16.04.3 LTS, the first step states: 1.
