Bug Description

Running 17.04 the Software Updated says the SW is up-to-date.
As far as I can tell, the last SW update caused this problem.
Using the "gear icon" in the upper right corner I cannot
open "system settings..." or open About this computer.
I can select help or "shut down..."

You filed a bug against the Ubuntu documentation, and your problem is not about that, so closing.

I recommend that you ask for support at a suitable resource, for instance <https://askubuntu.com>. If you do, you may want to open a terminal window, run the command

unity-control-center

and include whatever it outputs to the question you ask.

Gunnar I had NO choice when opening this bug, it only

you reply, your action does nothing to improve product
quality. Instead of just closing this bug - a real bug,
maybe you could do something more productive like changing
it to a more suitable category?

If I had been sure that the problem is a bug, and not caused by something you did, I might have changed it to an appropriate package. But your description does not give any evidence for this being a bug. That's why I suggested that you seek support at first hand to figure out the nature of the problem - and solve it for you. Then, if there proves to be some kind of reproducible bug, which needs developer involvement, you are encouraged to file a bug report.
