Bug Description

If I go to System Settings - Brightness and Lock then I can find a Brightness slider input. But when I move the slider to a different position, the brightness of the screens does not change.

Earlier I said f.lux does not work either. I have found that f.lux does not install correctly and should not be expected to work apparently. People say to get resdshift instead. I get messages from python about unset

The software called redshift is able to make the screens a different color, so that is good.

sudo echo 50 > /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness

Trusty Tahr 14.04 updated to current

This status is invalid so I should not be editing it, I should be editing the duplicate. Sorry about the duplicate.

ok, it is not ubuntu-docs. apparently an errant keystroke enabled me to submit the bug before it was correct in any way. I'll try again (how do I delete it? edit it? I'm the one who tried to make it! sorry!!)

You need not delete this bug document. You can edit the header information and correct whatever you think is wrong.

I am not sure whether it should really be a question, or a bug. I have found the little pencil, so that is progress.
