Bug Description
New ubuntu installation 12.04 LTS failed to update completely. There were about 662 (!) updates available, but after running "apt-get install -f" - command in in Terminal and also restarting after recovery-mood there are still 295 updates that refuses to install. My expectation was of course that none of this would have happened but a smooth install leading to a fully functional system!

Hi Lars,
Thanks for the report. Unfortunately this kind of failure happens once in a while. Sometimes the bug reports are accompanied with an automated message saying that it's likely a hardware error, but this report does not contain enough info to tell.
May I suggest that you try to purge the ubuntu-docs package, try
sudo apt-get upgrade
again, and let us know the result.
If that doesn't help, and since this was a new install, I suppose it's easiest to start it all over. However, if you do, I'd suggest that you use the 12.04.4 ISO file instead of the original 12.04 to reduce the number of updates. (Or why not install the latest LTS, Ubuntu 14.04?)
