In my opinion, the root issue here is that the "new" theme does not differentiate general text from text within <gui></gui> tags when the source code is compiled into html. This will be is the resulting .css files.
This bug then, in my opinion, becomes the same as bug 1173426. The scope of 1173426 should be expanded to include all lack of differentiation within tags rather than the one case.
I'll add two attachments to this bug and to 1173426 showing the differences between the old and new theme.
