Bug Description

In an attempt to see how legacy apps and snap apps were behaving I did the following...
installed latest Zesty daily build
installed libertine-manager
snap installed chrome-test
rebooted (to be sure)

Now there are 2 locations for apps to appear
1) app drawer
2) old-skool app scope in dash

What I found is that many default u7 apps appear in the drawer but not in the scope - such as "calculator", "appearance", "archive", "FF"

but chrome-test snap, only appears in the scope but not the drawer.

I am able to launch any of these apps by clicking on them in drawer or scope and achieve a fair amount of usability.

Expectation - minimally that all apps/snaps appear in the drawer, best case, all apps appear in both places apps are surfaced.

It seems similar to bug 1659758 that I'm experiencing since the beginning of this week.

I'm experiencing a similar issue. in my case I'm running Zesty with unity8-session-snap version 392. The drawer is completely empty: http://picpaste.com/Screenshot_from_2017-02-03_10-44-49-1kuLoaut.png

So this is "by design" in the unity8 snap. It doesn't have information on what is stored on the classic system. It will only have either apps that are in the snap or installed as snaps in the drawer. It can't run or query the others. This makes sense as the unity8-session-snap is only expected to be used on core systems that wouldn't have debs installed.
