2019-04-17 20:29:21 Andreas Hasenack ubuntu-advantage-tools (Ubuntu): status New In Progress
2019-04-17 22:51:51 Andreas Hasenack description ubuntu-advantage-tools on trusty needs an update to support trusty ESM. SRU template to follow. [Impact] Trusty is about to enter ESM (Extended Security Maintenance). While a new ubuntu-advantage-tools client is in development and almost finished, we thought it best to update the existing client in the meantime, already shipped in trusty, to support ESM. [Test Case] * Install ubuntu-advantage-tools from trusty-updates: sudo apt install ubuntu-advantage-tools * Verify that it says esm is not avaiable: $ ubuntu-advantage status livepatch: disabled esm: disabled (not available) fips: disabled (not available) * Update the client to the version in proposed and run status again. This time it should have no remark about esm being not available: $ ubuntu-advantage status livepatch: disabled esm: disabled fips: disabled (not available) [Regression Potential] The existing trusty ubuntu-advantage-tools package only supports livepatch. This update is not touching that part of the code, but instead adding support for esm which was previously not available. [Other Info] There will be a new update soon, that completely revamps the package. That will be subject to a new, different, SRU.

Xenial is not being updated with these changes because there is no ESM for xenial. Finally, I re-enabled the test suite at package build time, which had been disabled in a previous upload.
