Bug Description

Ubuntu 8.04.1 amd64 - fresh install with updates

When firefox encounters a page which uses flash, it displays that plugin frame, which upon clicking triggers the plugin installation.

But after the plugin is installed, the page still show that frame. Even after reloading the page.
Clicking it opens again the plugin installation wizard, but this time it says, that the flash plugin is already installed.

It only works after closing and restarting firefox.

Either:
 - the plugin should work without restart
or
 - the install wizard should inform the user that the change will be effective only after closing and restaring firefox

Not sure this one was duped correctly.
Seems unrelated.
Also, hitting the about:plugins page should cause flash plugin to be picked up without restart.

I imagine there's some similar backend method too?

Charlie, this is not a duplicate of bug 274468, but rather of bug 231679.

Let's post to there from now on and check out there whether my solution works for you.

Can someone experiencing this issue confirm whether or not it is bug 338785 please?

Charlie, bug 338785 is generic, I don't know it is also related to this issue. In both bug 338785 and mozilla bug 427028 (upstream bug) the question related to firefox plugin isn't ever sayd so I shouldn't mark this bug as duplicate of 338785.

However I confirm the issue on 10.04 and firefox 3.6.13
