This string is in apt, but it appears to be translated to zh_TW there. I don't currently know what level of the stack is responsible for failing to translate it.

Hi Rick,

As Colin was mentioning, the string is translated already (seems to have been since 2009):

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/apt/+pots/apt-all/zh_TW/+translate?batch=10&show=all&search=retrieving

The issue seems to be that the translation is not getting loaded at some level. I'm familiar with how translations are loaded for regular desktop apps, but I'm not familiar enough with the ubiquity and the rest of the installer code to know how exactly they are loaded.

I can provide advice to Victor and research how ubiquity translations are loaded, but ultimately the fix should be done by someone familiar with the code.

This looks like a duplicate of bug 644736
