Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubiquity
This may be the same bug as #56068.
I tried to install on a disk that I had already carefully partitioned by hand. The installer crashed when it was trying to do something related to the existing partitions.
I reported this bug before: it was incorrectly diagnosed as a GUI problem, which I was assured would be fixed in the next release.
Unfortunately, there is no workaround for this problem, because the standard installation process creates /tmp, /usr, /var, and /home on the root partition, and there is no way to move them.
Because of this problem in 6.06, and the fact that the 6.10 installer crashes much earlier in the process, I have had to install 5.04 on my new hardware.
I cannot do anything with this bug without some idea of what the crash is. Your bug report simply says "it crashed", which I cannot diagnose.
Could you please attach /var/log/ installer/ syslog, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman to this bug, following the directions in http:// wiki.ubuntu. com/DebuggingUb iquity/ AttachingLogs? Thanks in advance.
