Bug Description

Thinkpad z60m, built-in harddisk removed.
Tried to install from Kubuntu 6.10 CD to 120 GB 2½ inch disk connected to USB port.
The brand new disk just before partitioned with gparted with 3GB for swap and 30 GB for /

Nothing jumps out in the rest of your log files as the cause for the filesystem getting remounted read-only. However, there have been a large number of changes since Ubuntu 6.10 and the installer now handles similar problems much better.

Have you tried or could you try the Ubuntu 8.04 CD and see if you are able to reproduce the bug? If the problem no longer persists please reply here so we can close the bug, otherwise please attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman as separate attachments following http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs .
