Bug Description
Bug confirmed on all Ubuntu versions until Natty.
In the "manual partitionning" menu, Ubiquity allows to install GRUB inside any disk and any partition. (screenshot: http://
If a beginner installs by mistake GRUB inside a Windows system partition, it has only bad consequences :
1) GRUB won't work as it needs a chainloader
2) If the user is been told to reinstall GRUB in the MBR: since NTFS partitions are case insensitive GRUB will not be able to detect Windows. ( http://
I suggest Ubiquity should only propose to install GRUB inside:
- any disk
- the partition of the new Ubuntu being installed (for chainloader users)

Is Ubiquity separate from grub2's installer?
This supposedly was fixed with 10.10 and grub 1.98.

Only offer partitions containing /, /boot, or /boot/grub for
grub-install; installing to other partitions may have harmful effects
such as making Windows unbootable, and installing GRUB to every single
partition is likely to result in confusion anyway (LP: #576724).
