Language screen is mostly empty when installing in "Try Ubuntu" mode

A1. Start Ubuntu from Grub, using an ISO sitting on an existing partition.
A2. Launch "Install Ubuntu 11.10" from the desktop.

B1. Start Ubuntu from a live CD, and choose "Try Ubuntu".
B2. Launch "Install Ubuntu 11.10" from the desktop.

What you see:
A2. A mostly empty "Welcome" screen, containing only a language list on the left.
B2. A mostly empty "Welcome" screen, containing only a language list on the left, and the desolate sentence "You may wish to read the release notes."

Since I reported this, I’ve changed the design to solve the problem in a different way, but the problem itself still exists.
