Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

The program told me in the very end (after i was told to reboot) that the installation (via usb) crashed.

Due to the error report "var/log/syslog" and "var/log/partman" are the reason for the crash.

The system is a IBM x31 Thinkpad, the11.04 live Version worked well and 10.04 before too, expect the broad band connection, which is the reason for the update. The syslog file didn't exist, the partman file is attaced.

Will now try it again.

Thx!

As an advice, I am ubuntu user since 4.10, and I always suggest a full ubuntu installation from scratch.

Upgrades between releases are not as good as expected. This issue has been improved, however, it is in constant evolution.

It is better to backup the system every six months and then install the ubuntu release from scratch.

Just an advice.

thx for the answer.

I intended a full installation but the upgrade window only offered an update, a reinstallation of 10.04 and an installation beneath 10.04, so i thought it was the usual way to go. But i will take another look and install it from scratch.
