Bug Description
Booting from the kubuntu edgy (i386) installer cd I click on the 'Install' icon and fail to format as reiserFs.
I then do fdisk and mkreiserfs from a konsole and restart the installer.
Unfortunately the installer refused to let me select a partition as root that is reiserFS :(
if I try the 'Prepare mount points' screen will refuse to let me go to the next screen as long as I don't select a partition that is non-reiserfs.
it says that I didn't select a root partition. But I did. And when I go back and reformat that root partition as ext3; then it works.
I don't know what you guys have against ReiserFS, but I have good experiences with it and can't ship this system using a filesystem I don't have good experiences with.

This doesn't actually have anything to do with reiserfs; it's really bug 67130, which is a (serious) problem with pre-existing partitions in general.
In Kubuntu, there's also bug 42994 (qtparted only supports creating reiserfs filesystems using a broken library that we decided not to ship because the filesystems it created caused our kernel to oops during installation, rather than using mkfs.reiserfs), which will probably affect you. Ubuntu does not suffer from this problem, nor does the Kubuntu alternate install CD.
