Hi.
I have the same error in all the Natty dailys i have tried the latest dated 28. march.
I have reported a bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/728296
But at the time the was no updated nvidia drivers ready for Natty so i marked it invalid.
There is another user that have the same error that has subscribed the my bug report.
also i found these:

This bug is not fixed. I have this exact problem with the release from today on my 64 bit machine. It just won't install. It completely hangs on this. I also dont see how this is related/a duplicate of bug 739632, as it is nothing like the problem described by Dwayne Voelker.

The last line i see in the setup is
Mar 28 20:25:47 ubuntu ubiquity: WARNING:root:modinfo for module nvidia_current failed: ERROR: modinfo: could not find module nvidia_current

and then it just dies. I waited for over an hour.

indeed...

That bug, 739632 mentions nothing about nvidia, and I am pretty sure
this has something to do with nvidia.

I was able to get the April 25 livecd to install, but rebooting after
install just shows the splash screen and then it sits there forever.
If i remove "quiet" and "splash" from the grub kernel line i see it
will get to "loading fallback graphics... [fail] and then a few lines
later it will stop and sit there, probably when the display manager
should have started...

I was able to mount the drive from within windows and i can attach the
/var/log/installer/syslog file, i notice these lines from it, it seems
to be asking it I want to load the kernel module but perhaps there is
no way to say yes since it is not interactive? just guessing:

ok i tried the released 11.04 today and this is what i found:

pretty much the same as last week, but I have more info this time:

to reproduce, i:

1. booted with the 11.04 release cd and selected install (vs. boot into live cd mode). I did not change any command line entries, i.e. remove "quiet splash" or add noapic, etc.

2. selected install alongside windows 7

3. selected the option to install the third-party codecs, etc. but did not select the check-box to download updates(i thought that this may have been a problem in pre-release, in that it was failing to update the nvidia driver which also somehow disables the driver included on the cd).

4. after the install finishes, click reboot.

5. on reboot the splash screen displays for a very short time doesn't seem to animate at all, and then everything seems to freeze(if i hit caps lock or num lock no lights appear)

6. reboot again by holding the power button in. At the grub screen select 'e' to edit the selected boot entry. remove "quiet" and "splash" from the kernel line and select ctrl-x to boot

7. the log messages come up and i notice a few things there. (i will attach a picture that I took of it):

init: ureadahead-other main process (626) terminated with status 4
init: udev-fallback-graphics main process (675) terminated with status 1

... later on ...

starting automatic crash report generation [fail]

8. a few lines later the machine becomes unresponsive

Once i boot back into windows, i can mount the ext drives and i got the install, etc. logs from them which i will also post.
