Bug Description

I had a WinXP and Ubuntu (32-bit) dual boot machine. I wanted to replace WinXP with Ubuntu 64-bit, so that I could try it out without deleting my existing Ubuntu 32-bit installation.

I created a bootable thumb drive from the ISO, chose "Try Ubuntu" to check it out, saw that everything looked good, then ran the "Intall Ubuntu" application by double-clicking on the icon on the desktop (i.e., did not restart the machine).

I clicked on the two checkboxes to download proprietary stuff.

I chose the option to manage the partitions myself and deleted the WinXP partition and reformatted it with Ext4 and chose / for the mount point, then selected it for installation.

After downloading files it seemed about to finish, then I got a message saying "Installer crashed", instructing me to file this bug report. It said to include the following detail, but the message does not give any details.

After filing the bug report, halted the machine manually, then restarted.

I got the GRUB menu showing the new install (the WinXP option is gone). Selected it, and everything looks OK so far.

Should I re-run the installation?
