Hello. Thanks for filing a bug. Could you please attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman to this bug, by commenting on the bug's web page? That would help us better identify the cause of the problem. Thanks.

Further information:

Since this is a Live CD based installer you have likely lost the original log files when you turned off or rebooted the machine. In that case the only way to get the log files is to reproduced the install procedure (with the crash) and upload the files directly from the Live CD. Please let us know if you are able to do that at this stage.

To upload the files you need to run firefox from the Live CD session where the installer crashed, visit this bug page and click on 'Add a comment/attachment' at the bottom of the page. Click Browse and navigate to the requested files in /var/log.

Changed in ubiquity:
status: Unconfirmed → Needs Info

Closing this bug. Please re-open it if you are able to supply the requested files at some point. (you would have to repeat the install attempt with the same Live CD to get them) This page contains detailed information on uploading log files:

Thanks for your report. I'm afraid that one of your partitions seems to be too small to complete an Ubuntu desktop installation successfully. Bug 48355 notes that the partitioner should have warned you about this. This is fixed in 6.06.1.
