2010-10-12 22:43:06 Sam Townsend bug added bug
2010-10-12 22:45:44 Sam Townsend description Binary package hint: ubiquity I was trying to install ubuntu to a 4GB SD card today on a system with no hard drive, but the installer refused to proceed past the "Preparing to install Ubuntu" page because it claimed that my computer does not have 2.6GB available drive space. The "Forward" button was disabled, and there was no way to proceed with what would be a perfectly working installation. Because of this problem, I suggest that a checkbox be added to ubiquity labeled "Ignore and continue (not recommended)" or something to that effect so that people in situations similar to mine are able to install ubuntu using the graphical installer, instead of forcing them to switch to the text-based alternate installer. Binary package hint: ubiquity I was trying to install ubuntu to a 4GB SD card today on a system with no hard drive, but the installer refused to proceed past the "Preparing to install Ubuntu" page because it claimed that my computer does not have 2.6GB available drive space. The "Forward" button was disabled, so there was no way to proceed with what would be a perfectly working installation. In addition to people running machines that lack hard drives, this bug probably also affects people with a full hard drive who may want to install to some form of removable media, and should therefore be considered a major flaw in the software. Because of this problem, I suggest that a checkbox be added to ubiquity labeled "Ignore and continue (not recommended)" or something to that effect so that people in situations similar to mine are able to install ubuntu using the graphical installer, instead of forcing them to switch to the text-based alternate installer.
