Bug Description
This bug is actually plaguing my computer since 10.04, and it's still there in 10.10 beta (1?). The problem is that I can boot off the Live CD/DVD, all fine and good. I choose my language (Portuguese-PT) and then I go and select either "Install Ubuntu" or "Try Ubuntu without installing". I get 3 messages, these sometimes are different, but they are related to "Disabling IRQ's". It disables 28, 29 and then 25. In 10.04 it disabled 31 and 32. Then the screen turns off completely. It isn't showing black, it's turned off. There is HDD activity as well as CD/DVD activity for a while (roughly 1 minute) and then it stops. The system is "dead".
I then read the release notes for 10.04 and it said something related to "nodomoset" in the "advanced options". It sort of works. I still can't boot to the installer directly, but I can boot the Live CD/DVD. In 10.10 alpha 3 I managed to get to the desktop itself but it froze 5 minutes later. In the beta I got to a console where I should type some commands, such as the one to start X. I tried to type something but the system didn't respond. So far the only thing I can do is force shutdown.
Please could you check if this issue is still occurring with latest stable release of Ubuntu Maverick? Thanks
