Bug Description

Program told me to post this, or something like this. Attempted installing new LTS package. First experience with Linux install--sorry for noob-status.

Made it to 98%, or so. I think it crashed when handling the bootloader. I have a screenshot and the three files Program told me to collect for you. Please advise what other info needed and how to communicate the screenshot and files, if necessary.

Thanks. Please see below for some details.

I take this bug too!
Installer crushed while configuring bootloader.
I found this in logs:

May be this happend because i try to install Ubuntu on XFS partition (created earlier bu Suse 10.1 installer)?

I had also pre-partitioned and formatted to XFS, using gparted live cd (not the one integrated in the ubuntu install disc). However, I did check (mark) the boxes to format my 2+GB swap partition and the 10GB root partition. I left alone both the Windows partition and the unknown 33MB partition.

Could all these partitions be causing the problems?

Unless I receive alternate instructions I plan to scrub the two partitions I attempted to format--making them contiguous (unformatted) free space. Then I will try to select the option of installing on largest free space.

5-6 hours from now. I will check here before proceeding.

Thanks for your report. Due to some reliability problems with GRUB and XFS, you need to use a non-XFS root filesystem or create a non-XFS /boot filesystem. The fact that the partitioner doesn't warn you about this up-front is also bug 47848, and is fixed in 6.06.1.

(Andrey - could you please open a new bug report for your problem, thanks)

Thank you. I installed in accordence with my earlier message and it installed fine. Now I need to learn how to use Linux (or at least the Ubuntu flavor)!
