Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Steps performed:
- Booting from Kubuntu-10.04 Desktop amd64 CD
- In partitioner, choose "manual"
- Machine has one PATA and one SATA drive - choose the free space on the SATA (PATA is used and full) and create 3072MB primary ext4 partition for /
- Then, choose remaining free space on SATA and create 3072MB primary partition for swap
- Then, choose remaining free space on SATA and create 8192MB logical ext4 partition for /usr
- Then, choose remaining free space on SATA and create 2048MB logical ext4 partition for /home
At this point, the installer crashes while calculating the new layout.

Traceback:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/ubiquity/ubiquity/frontend/kde_components/PartitionModel.py", line 102, in parent
    parentItem = childItem.parent()
AttributeError: 'exceptions.AttributeError' object has no attribute 'parent'

And /var/log/syslog.

I forgot to mention that this happened twice - the second time, I used the "update installer" link presented on the first screen of the installer before proceeding.

Additional info: Just performed another try - this time, I only chose the first partition as primary and all others as logical. In this case, the installer crashes at the same point (after clicking OK when creating /home), but contrary to the first version, no "Trackback" or crash dialog window is shown.

More info: If I disconnect the PATA drive from the system, I can partition the SATA drive without problems - apparently, the crash is triggered by the fact that there are two drives present. For completeness: The PATA drive is already partitioned for another Linux system.
