Bug Description

The Knot2 Installer appears to stall at the partitioner stage. When it first enters the partitioner first appear to have hung (the loading cursor stops animating and moving my touchpad does not move the cursor. After a while (say 10-15 seconds) the partitioner reports an error stating "The resize operation is impossible". Then if I select "Manually edit partition table" and select "Forward", I get the loading cursor and nothing more. I've waited for quite some time for the parititioner to continue but it does not. I am attaching the output of the command "fdisk -l" as well as my syslog output (seems to indicate kernel crash).

Do you mean that for two years your installer has been unable to partition Dell laptops? I write on 31 August, 2008, and the elementary operation just says: "An error occurred while writing the changes to the storage devices. The resizing operation has been aborted."

My system is a Dell Inspiron 1525, with a 160GB SATA drive running Vista sp1. Your program shows allocation thusly:
sda1 FAT16 41 MB (33 MB used)
sda2 ntfs 10 485 MB 0 used
sda3 ntfs 146 828 MB 0 used
sda5 FAT32 2 682 MB (670 MB used)

I think Dell is screwing with your minds by lousing up the order of their dirives, and your partitioner might be looking for someplace to put sda4. At any rate, this isn't a bug you should leave unfixed.
