Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Testing Lucid Beta Live CD AMD64 (Apr, 5 2010) as a fresh install on a system with Karmic and Jaunty and Grub2 already installed on /dev/sdb (originally /sda but after some disk fiddling remained at /sdb). /sda is a new disk. Both Nautilus and GParted on the Live CD recognize both disks and are able to mount existing partitions. Install 10.04 cannot detect previous Ubuntu versions or /sdb. Only offers repartitioning of /sda (and a Legacy useless 100 meg ATA Zip Drive) which is not what I want to do. I guess this leaves me with the Alternate CD. If I remember correctly this is not a new issue, I might have observed it in the past.

Can you please run the installer in debug mode (select "Try Ubuntu", wait for the desktop to load, press alt-F2 and type `ubiquity -d`) until you get to the partitioning screen where your disk is not appearing. Press alt-F2 again and type `apport-collect 556225`. This will attach debugging logs to this bug report, which will be necessary for us to diagnose the bug you're seeing.

If possible, please do this with the latest daily-live CD (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live) rather than beta 1.

Thanks!

Any clue how to finish the process? Couldn't get this info:

"Almost finished ...

To finish authorizing the application identified as apport-collect to access Launchpad on your behalf you should go back to the application window in which you started the process and inform it that you have done your part of the process."

Tried the above described process three times, either you will receive three identical reports or something is very wrong, nothing new appears in this bug log.

Reset the disks to present them as /sda (boot) and /sbd (data). Lucid fresh install (zsync updated 24 hours ago) still cannot see my system disk. It keeps offering the same disk as yesterday (now effectively secondary) although the main disk is correctly assigned as /sda.

Trying to explain better:
After running the apport-collect 556225 command the "run" screen is gone and it seems there's no place left to "inform it that you have done your part of the process" as Launchpad site states.

This bug is not present in Maverick Beta AMD64. Did a fresh install with the Live CD and it went flawless.
