Installer crashed (Exit code 1)

Installing from livecd, clean hard-drive.
Installer got past 100% and was doing the other bits, and then got the crash message.
Not sure yet whether anything actually went wrong other than the installer...

Repeated the install and received same error. This time I was paying more attention, and noticed progress was at 96% (Installing boot loader), which tallies with the tail of the installer/syslog

Thanks for your report. Due to some reliability problems with GRUB and XFS, you need to use a non-XFS root filesystem or create a non-XFS /boot filesystem. The fact that the partitioner doesn't warn you about this up-front is also bug 47848, and is fixed in dapper-updates.

Used the server i386 image insted and selected LAMP server installation from the start upp menu.

The installation worked fine and we have a GUI less machine with MySQL, Apache, FTP etc.
