i changed the sata card for another one and still happened but then i followed instructions here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1380077

sudo dmraid -E -r /dev/sda (or /dev/sdb, depending)
sudo apt-get remove dmraid

now seems to be working.
