Bug Description

This happens every time I try to install Ubuntu 6.06 from CD onto my amd64 machine. Drive partitioning appears to work fine, then when it's done (or almost done?) copying files, a window appears saying this:

--------
We're sorry; the installer crashed. Please file a bug report at https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+filebug and a developer will attend to the problem as soon as possible. To help the developers understand what went wrong, include the following detail in your bug report, and attach the files /var/log/installer/syslog, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman:

Traceback (most recent call last):

I'm not familiar with your bug database, but I'll try to figure out how to attach the requested files after I submit this.

Thanks for your report. Due to some reliability problems with GRUB and XFS, you need to use a non-XFS root filesystem or create a non-XFS /boot filesystem. The fact that the partitioner doesn't warn you about this up-front is also bug 47848, and is fixed in Edgy.
