no Hard Disk device detected -can't install 9.10

Bug Description

Binary package hint: yelp

I can't install ubuntu 9.10(but also 9.04 - 32 bit or 64 bit) the installer or other applications from the live(gparted, fdisk -l) don't detect the hard disk drive so I can't go forward.

Also the alternate cd, can't find my hard disk, and ask me for the controller's driver.
