Suggestion: Write an error handler that warns people to remove all usb flash drives before continuing.

the version of Ubuntu that I was using is called Ubuntu 6.06 LTS I thought that this was the same version as Dapper Drake. Hence the reason that I posted the comment "Dapper (Drake) is version 6.06 LTS"

I could not confirm this problem with my Lexar jumpdrive 512M flash drive. Have you tried more than one different flash drive?

Thanks for your report. This is also bug 48732, and occurs due to strange model names on certain disks.

As you say, removing USB drives can be a workaround for this problem, but I've had reports that were nothing to do with USB drives. I'm just going to fix it properly instead. :-)
