Kubuntu 6.06 installer crashes

Bug #52919 reported by Craig Rae

Bug Description

Two consecutive attempts at installing Kubuntu 6.06 to a blank system have failed with the same crash. Between attempts, the disk was wiped, repartitioned and reformatted; the primary partition is xfs.

I don't think I'm doing anything special - I just followed the 6 steps to set the language, time zone, keyboard type, set up a user and partition the disk.

Traceback (most recent call last):

raise RuntimeError, ("Install failed with exit code %s; see "
RuntimeError: Install failed with exit code 1; see /var/log/installer/syslog and /var/log/syslog

The installer suggests I post the logs installer/syslog, syslog and partman:

Thanks for your report. Due to some reliability problems with GRUB and XFS, you need to use a non-XFS root filesystem or create a non-XFS /boot filesystem. Bug 47848 is filed to note that the partitioner should warn you about this up-front.
