Ubuntu Installer fails when Installing in VMWare Server

I get the same error installing on VMWare Server 1.0.0. I have attached my /var/log/installer/syslog, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman.

With further experimenting I was able to get Ubuntu 6.06 installed under VMWare Server 1.0.0.

I used a custom setup and set the HD type to IDE, SCSI type to BusLogic, and specified a 3GB HD. I had created a 2 GB HD with the prior failures, going by Ubuntu specification for 2GB required. So I guess it was either the SCSI issues or the disc size that cause the failure.

Thanks for your report. As you suspected, I'm afraid that your disk seems to be too small to complete an Ubuntu desktop installation successfully. Bug 48355 notes that the partitioner should have warned you about this.
