Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubiquity
Tried to install a daily build of Lucid Lynx from a USB, but get an error message of "The username you entered is invalid. Note that usernames must start with a lower-case letter, which can be followed by any combination of numbers and more lower-case letters" after clicking "Forward" in the bottom right after choosing the desired settings on the partitioning screen. I had the issue on yesterday's daily build (20100221), and also on today's build (20100222).
The system I was testing on is a 32-bit system; and already dual-boots Windows XP, Ubuntu 9.10, and trying to additionally install 10.04 as well. Also, the installer is running from a 4GB flash drive, whereas the contents of the ISO was installed on the USB using the "Startup Disk Creator" in Lucid.
Steps taken:
1. Chose "English" from the menu, and "Install Ubuntu" at first prompt.
2. Chose "English" in Ubiquity.
3. Chose "United States" and "Central" for timezone.
4. Chose the suggested layout (USA).
5. Chose "Use the largest continuous space" and clicked "Forward" (like in previous steps). (Note: I also tried "install them side by side" initially, and also tried setting up the partitions manually as well. Still got the error regardless)
6. Error message appears

Caleb,
I tried to reproduce your bug with the 20100223.1 CD, but was able to complete the install successfully. Can you please try the install in debug mode (`ubiquity -d` from a terminal) and then run `apport-collect 526157` when you get the error message to attach /var/log/syslog, /var/log/ installer/ debug, and /var/log/partman to this bug report so we can further diagnose the problem.
Thanks!
