Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubiquity
I used today's build (20090220) of the Ubuntu Lucid live CD to attempt installation.
On this computer is a pre-existing Windows 7 installation with 3 users: Administrator, Jeremy Bicha and Rachel.
I didn't seem to get hit by the bug when I left the partitioning as automatic, but if I chose either manual partitioning or choose the largest contiguous free space and then clicked forward, I got endless popup messages with "The username you entered is invalid. Note that usernames must start with a lower-case letter, which can be followed by any combination of numbers and more lower-case letters." The installer got stuck at this point just before the screen where I could select a username and password.
The installer apparently didn't like that one of the Windows usernames had spaces in it (which is rather common on Windows).
I had to run ubiquity --no-migration-

I can confirm this behaviour when trying to use the largest contiguous space or manual partitioning. I did not try automatic partitioning.
Using ubiquity --no-migration- assistant did work fine for me too.
