Bug Description

I'm trying to install ubuntu 6.06 on a PowerMac G4/733 and the installer crashes in the same spot every time, at 85% during Installing language packs. A popup appears with:

Could you please attach /var/log/installer/syslog, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman to this bug, using the "Add Attachment" link on the bug's web page? Thanks in advance.

I think you will be able to install Uubuntu with the Alternate- CD (NOT Desktop- CD). The problem is ubiquity (have a look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity).

Changed in ubiquity:
status: Unconfirmed → Needs Info

Thanks for your report. Since you didn't attach the full logs, it's not entirely clear, but this appears to be bug 47859. It can be worked around by not installing broken packages before running the installer (if you did that), and/or by not choosing to install NTP support while running the installer (if you did that). NTP support can be installed after rebooting into the newly-installed system by right-clicking on the date/time applet and selecting "Adjust Date & Time".
