Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

See the attached window dump.

If I highlight "free space" under /dev/mmcblk1, then click Add... set a size, type and mount point, then click OK, no new partition appears in the list. This can be repeated indefinitely with no effect. There seems to be no way to force creation of the new partition.

Ubuntu lucid development branch
ubiquity 2.1.9
Architecture: armel

Observed in daily-live image http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/ports/daily-live/20100112.2/lucid-desktop-armel+imx51.img

In combination with https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/506971, I can't do manual partitioning at all, even by pre-partitioning the device with fdisk.

I believe you will find that there are also problems with "parted" and/or "libparted" in Lucid.

During iso testing I encountered a problem and a combination of Xorg and hardware problems kept me from following through on my testing.

But even on my installed Lucid I was having trouble with Gparted resizing, deleting, etc.

Unfortunately I will not be able to follow up on this for several days. (Shopping and awaiting new hardware)

Please have someone do some basic testing with parted/Gparted both from the Live CD and their installed Lucid.

The problem(s) are obvious.

This appears to be the same as bug 506585, so I'm marking it as a duplicate.

Erick, problems with gparted are not related to this bug. I'd appreciate it if you could file specific details of the problems you're having, *as a new bug report*; so far my testing has not uncovered systemic problems with libparted, so we'll need details from you.
