unable to install 9.10 on system

Bug Description
Try in do install on a 2.4 GHz 764Mb 80 Gb HD Intel P4 machine and it will lock up the entire machine and corrupt the MBR of sda so that I can not access any OS on any drives. It will install 9.04 but NOT 9.10. The same version/ ISO of 9.10 will work on a 1.4 GHz P4 Intel 256 Mb 80 Gb HD machine though with NO problems. I have already tested for bad memory and HD problems and NO errors or anomilies. I have also tested as much as i can of other components to see if there are possible problems there, I have NOT found any.

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test a current, supported, Ubuntu version. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 486019, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
