This happened while installing the packages for italian localization. It downloaded it, then after 4 min of installation it crashed.

Succeeded now. The only difference, the first time I was installing on a XFS root partition, now it's reiserfs. Hope this helps

The installer asked you to attach /var/log/installer/syslog and
/var/log/partman. Could you please do so using the "Add Attachment"
link on the bug page?

Thanks.

Matthew, please file a new bug rather than tagging log information onto an existing one. Also please attach /var/log/installer/syslog as well as /var/log/syslog. Thanks in advance.

after this, i run the command again in a terminal
(/usr/share/grub-installer/grub-installer', '/target)
i got this

The GRUB boot loader installation often fails or hangs when /boot is on a XFS file system. Using LILO in this situation is recommended.
Install the GRUB boot loader to XFS file system? <Yes> <No>
===================================
so this bug is definitly XFS related; should i do a new
and fresh bugreport for this???

i will try the install again with ext3!

Thanks for your report. Due to some reliability problems with GRUB and XFS, you need to use a non-XFS root filesystem or create a non-XFS /boot filesystem. Bug 47848 is filed to note that the partitioner should warn you about this up-front.
