Bug Description

ppc desktop 20060529

First I installed an LVM system with 'erase entire disk' with today's ppc/alternate CD, which worked fine. Then I used the desktop CD with 'erase entire disk' (with patch in bug 47073 applied). The installation stopped because it could not create a file system on /dev/hda3.

Only /dev/hda[124] existed after that, /dev/hda3 was missing (likewise in /sys/block/hda/). Calling /bin/update-dev or vgchange -a n does not help either. For some reason the kernel does not reload the partition table properly.

fdisk -l showed the partition, BTW. After a reboot, /dev/hda3 appears properly.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
